About Me

For straining my soup.

I’m J.P. Hollis. This is my website. Just a blog for me to record my thoughts. Here you’ll find insights into the journey to be published, peeks into my life in Korea, quotes from my favorite authors, videos that spur my imagination, and the tidbits of anime.

A few of my favorite authors are F. Scott Fitzgerald, Papa Hemingway, J.K. Rowling, Neil Gaiman, Haruki Murakami,Diana Wynne Jones, Scott Westerfeld and many others. I’m a firm believer in Joseph Campbell’s monomyth. I prefer evenings with my wife or quiet nights to myself. My day job is preparing Korean university students for life in the States.

I’m a strong believer in Socrates’ quote, “What a disgrace it is for a man to grow old without ever seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” Cheerios is my cereal, scotch is my poison, and a club is my sandwich. I have tattoos, an unfortunately cheesy sense of humor, and too many books I haven’t read. For the record, Gundams are the best robots, cats are the best pets, and rainy days are the most relaxing.
